WHO WE HELP

Holli Fund supports individuals in the Richmond-area food service industry who are experiencing an economic crisis such as injury, illness, death of an immediate family member, loss of income due to coronavirus restrictions, or other emergency. Workers who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and/or are under doctor’s orders for a mandatory quarantine should ask for assistance. A food service worker can apply for assistance up to three months after a crisis occurs. Individuals must be currently employed in the food service industry to qualify or had been employed in the industry until coronavirus restrictions were mandated by the state in March 2020.

HOW WE HELP

Holli Fund offers grants up to $750 each for individuals in the food service industry experiencing an economic crisis. Typically, grant checks will be for rent, transportation, mortgage payments and/or utilities and will be made out to the service provider. Holli Fund grants are not for medical expenses. We evaluate applications on a first-come, first-serve basis, as long as funds are available. We will verify employment records and then review documentation of the financial obligation. Once approved, funds are delivered directly to pay the bill, not to individuals.

grant recipient FEEDBACK

I seriously cannot thank you all enough. This will help me tremendously because I didn’t have money to pay upcoming rent due to unemployment issues. I appreciate the support and you all are awesome for this!

Hollister’s Story

A nonprofit organization, The Holli Fund was inspired by Hollister Lindley, a beloved food writer and a powerful presence in the industry who lost a multi-year battle with ALS in late 2017.

Lindley, a longtime food writer for Richmond magazine, died November 3, 2017, after years of battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disease affecting nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement.

In honor of Hollister's dedication to supporting some of the most hard-working members of our community, The Holli Fund offers financial grants to those in the food service community experiencing an economic crisis.

Read a tribute by Julia Battaglini honoring Hollister J. Lindley that ran in the January 2018 issue of Richmond Magazine:
